Let me be kind, let me be humble, let me be silent — for there is one Self in all." — Swami Sivananda, Bliss Divine
Sivananda wrote and taught extensively at his ashram in Rishikesh during the mid-twentieth century, building one of the most active spiritual communities in modern India. He trained hundreds of disciples from across the world and insisted that seva, selfless service to others, was inseparable from personal practice. This line comes from his broader teaching that the same consciousness running through you runs through everyone around you, making isolation a kind of spiritual error. When belonging feels hard to find, this idea offers a concrete reason to stay connected: the other person is not separate from you at the deepest level.
Reflection
Think about someone in your community you have been keeping at a distance. What specific belief about that person is making you pull back?
