The silence of love is louder than all the noise of the world.

Hafiz wrote during 14th-century Shiraz, a city caught between political instability, shifting rulers, and the constant noise of courtly life. He spent decades as a court poet navigating patronage, flattery, and performance — a world that rewarded words above all else. This line cuts against everything that environment demanded of him. It is a direct challenge to anyone who mistakes busyness and speech for depth, and it asks us to consider what we actually hear when we stop filling the air.

Reflection

Think about the last time you were fully quiet — no phone, no background noise, no task running in your head. What did you notice about a specific person, decision, or feeling that you had been avoiding?
